ST Blend Words
A searchable ST word list for blend practice, filterable by syllables and word type.
ST is S straight into T, as in star, stop, and stairs. It is usually the first S blend to come together, partly because S and T are made in nearly the same place in the mouth.

How to make the ST blend sound
An S blend is two sounds run together with no vowel between them, which is harder than either sound alone. Children often drop the S (top for stop) or insert a vowel (sutop). Clusters usually come together around age 4 to 5, after the individual sounds are stable.

ST blend sound questions
Hold the S, then tap the tongue tip up for the T without letting a vowel sneak in. The tongue barely has to move, which is why ST is often the easiest S blend.
