SN Blend Words
A searchable SN word list for blend practice, filterable by syllables and word type.
SN is S into N, as in snake, snow, and snail. Snake earns its keep here twice over: it is an SN word, and the snake is the picture most children already associate with the S sound.

How to make the SN blend sound
An S blend is two sounds run together with no vowel between them, which is harder than either sound alone. Children often drop the S (top for stop) or insert a vowel (sutop). Clusters usually come together around age 4 to 5, after the individual sounds are stable.

SN blend sound questions
Hold the S with the tongue tip up, then keep the tip there and let the sound come through the nose for the N. The tongue does not have to move at all.
