DIRECTIONS FOR USE (as listed on the Teachers Pay Teachers website):
Egg Carton Articulation includes three different games or activities. This speech therapy articulation resource is helpful for both groups and individual therapy.
- Dice Word Drill
Cut and attach the Voiced or Voiceless TH overlay to the top of an empty egg carton. Using a regular dice inside the egg carton, ask your student shake the carton and then open it. The student then says the corresponding TH target word on top of the egg carton the number of times on the dice.
- This speech therapy TH articulation activity also includes “Monitoring Cards” so that the student can check off words that they have said and self-rate the production.
- Voiced TH and Voiceless TH may also easily be targeted at teh sentence level by using the included Sentence Strips.
2. Word Match-Up
You can also play articulation “Word Match-Up” with your students by cutting out the included word squares and placing a word square in the egg carton with the corresponding Voiced TH or Voiceless TH overlay attached to the top of the egg carton.
- The object of the game is to shake the carton and have the word square land in the corresponding space to match with the target TH word/picture on the overlay.
- If there is no match, the student says the word and keeps trying until they get a match.
- If the student gets a match, she or he can check it off on the included Monitoring Card. You can play until all words have been matched.
- In a group, the first player to get all their matches can win.
3. Picture Search
Similar to the “Word Match-up” speech therapy articulation game, the SLP can use the same “match-up” word squares by placing one small word square in the empty egg carton with the corresponding Voiced TH or Voiceless TH overlay attached to the top of the egg carton.
- The student shakes up the carton but does not open it.
- The included sentence strips are utilized to guess where the picture will be.
- The students can practice Voiced TH or Voiceless TH production at the sentence level by asking, “Where is the (TARGET WORD)?” “Is it under the (TARGET WORD)?”.
- If the student guesses wrong they can try again. If the student guesses right, they can use the included sentence strip, “I found the (TARGET WORD)!”.
