Articulation squares that fit on top of the ice cubes of the Hasbro game “Don’t Break the Ice.”
From the Teachers Pay Teachers website:
This speech therapy articulation activity contains target words in squares which fit on top of the ice cubes on “Don’t Break the Ice” (sold separetely).
This speech therapy articulation game includes cards for targeting the following phonemes: /r, s, z, l, k, g, f, v/, “sh,” “ch”, “dz,” “th,” s-blends, l-blends and r-blends.
Busy Bee Speech suggests the following instructions for this articulation game:
- Attach target words to the ice blocks. The Speech-Language Pathologist may choose to laminate the words and attach with velcro dots so that you may easily switch to different target phonemes as desired.
- Play “Don’t Break the Ice” with your students as directed. Request that the student say the target word(s) (five times, in a sentence, etc.) for each fallen ice cube.
- Practice articulation therapy at several levels of complexity. The students can make up silly sentences or silly stories with all the ice cubes collected.
If you love the game, check out Lauren LeCour Haines’ Do Not Break the Ice Bundle, which also includes sight words, picture articulation targets for prekindergarten speech therapy and a language pack (synonyms, antonyms, verbs, rhyming, adjectives/describing, prepositions & categories), along with the articulation targets.
